CFL rising star Qwan’tez Stiggers reportedly visiting Cardinals
Dan Hamilton-USA TODAY Sports

Even though the majority of players who have declared for the NFL Draft made their marks felt in college, there is one who will reportedly visit the Arizona Cardinals who took an unconventional route and battled adversity to get to this point.

As stated by NFL insider Aaron Wilson, Toronto Argonauts (CFL) cornerback Qwan’tez Stiggers has had or will have a variety of pre-draft visits, including with the Cardinals.

“Cornerback Qwan’tez Stiggers of the CFL to visit the Cardinals (on April 12), [Kansas City] Chiefs, [Seattle] Seahawks,” Wilson said on X (formerly Twitter). “Has also had visits with [Baltimore] Ravens, [Denver] Broncos, [New York] Jets, [Miami] Dolphins, [Detroit] Lions and [Houston] Texans visits per his agent, Fred Lyles.”

In 2020, Stiggers’ father passed away after a fatal car accident while he was a freshman at Lane College. Due to his dad’s death, Stiggers dropped out of school after suffering significant depression.

But after persevering through a tragic moment in his life, he found that urge to get back into football.

Stiggers decided to try out and ended up signing in Fan Control Football, a seven-on-seven arena football league, in 2022.

After one season in the FCF, the 22-year-old would head over the border sign with the Argonauts in the Canadian Football League (CFL).

He played in 16 regular season games last year, collecting 53 defensive tackles, three special teams tackles and five interceptions. Recognized for his impact with the Argos, Stiggers was named the CFL’s Most Outstanding Rookie and a CFL East All-Star.

According to various mock drafts, the Atlanta native is floating between the fifth and seventh rounds in the draft. The Cardinals have two fifth-round picks, one sixth and one seventh in the 2024 NFL Draft.

This year’s installment of the NFL Draft begins April 25.
