McCourty twins continue sports media rise as Devin joins NBC

It didn’t take Devin McCourty long to find a post-football vocation after retiring from the New England Patriots at the end of the 2022 season.

It was announced on Tuesday that McCourty, a three-time Super Bowl champion and two-time Pro Bowler, is joining Maria Taylor, Tony Dungy, Chris Simms, Mike Florio and Jason Garrett on NBC’s “Football Night in America,” the No. 1-rated NFL pregame show on television.

"I'm excited to be a rookie on the best team in America again," McCourty said in a statement, via ESPN. "I'm very grateful for this opportunity from NBC Sports to learn from great individuals, chase new goals and provide viewers with my thoughts on the biggest games every week."

This isn’t McCourty’s first foray into the broadcasting side of the business. As an active player last year, he served as a studio analyst for “NFL Today” on CBS, and he previously guest hosted "Good Morning Football" on the NFL Network.

Devin and his twin brother Jason also hosted a podcast called "Double Coverage" from 2018 to 2020. Jason currently works for the NFL Network as one of the "Good Morning Football" hosts, and he spent time as a radio analyst for Westwood One as well.

The McCourty brothers got their start in sports media while attending the NFL’s broadcasting bootcamp — a program designed to teach current and former players about the sports media business.

Devin spent his entire 13-year career with the Patriots, totaling 971 tackles, 35 interceptions and 110 passes defensed. He was named to New England’s All-2010s Team and All-Dynasty Team.

Jason also played 13 seasons and had stints with the Tennessee Titans, Cleveland Browns, Patriots and Miami Dolphins. He had 744 tackles, 18 interceptions 108 passes defensed and scored three defensive touchdowns. He won one Super Bowl with the Patriots in 2019.
