Blades fear Daniel Jebbison could leave for no fee

Sheffield United has expressed concerns regarding the future of Daniel Jebbison, fearing that he might depart without a transfer fee in the upcoming summer. Jebbison is among several players whose contracts expire in 2024, and it remains uncertain whether his current deal includes a one-year extension clause.

According to Alan Nixon, there is now a fear at United that Jebbison may opt to reject contract negotiations, and instead join a new club without any transfer fee as early as January under the current regulations.

Should Jebbison choose this path, United would receive a nominal fee for the young striker. However, if he decides to sign with another English club, Sheffield United would be entitled to higher financial compensation.

Jebbison has been sidelined this season due to an undisclosed medical issue and is expected to return to action in November, as indicated in the latest Inside Training video where he was seen back in the Blades’ gym.

With the signings of Cameron Archer and Benie Traore, along with Will Osula getting playing time this season, Jebbison has moved down the pecking order. Once Rhian Brewster is fully fit again, Jebbison would drop even further down the striker list.

The Canadian-born forward has shown promising signs when playing for the Blades but not enough of them. He has exceptional physical attributes however, the main thing he lacks is composure in front of goal and execution with his end product. And being in the Premier League, this isn’t something United can afford to wait for him to develop.
